Church can be an intimidating place to visit — especially if you don’t know what to expect. Our Sunday morning worship services are the beginning for most people at Duluth First United Methodist Church. We invite you to experience what the gospel means both intellectually and relationally at one of our three Sunday worship services.
Our greeters will warmly welcome you and answer any questions about Duluth First United Methodist Church that you may have. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus.
At Duluth First United Methodist Church we look for God’s love in our lives as the evidence that we have been truly worshipping Him. Authentic worship, central to everything, means learning to recognize God’s goodness while delighting to deepen in our responses.
It is our goal, as individuals and as a community, to unite our actions, intentions, and emotions in loving response to God. It means transforming the ways we think so that what we do and who we are become one—in, for, through, and to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

“Steadfast Love” Series for Lent at 8:30 a.m. Traditional Worship
A playlist? For the season of Lent? A Lenten playlist? What an odd idea. Lent is often seen as a somber and even silent season. Certainly, there is space for contemplation, for embracing the quiet, for being still to seek out God. Many of us, however, find music a helpful tool for contemplation.
Our 8:30 a.m. Traditional Worship service will change a little during this season. The theme is Steadfast Love to remind us all that God is there loving us from the beginning of time. We will use the Psalms to guide us to what the people of Jesus experienced. We will fast from communion and celebrate it with a new appreciation at our Sunrise service on Easter Sunday, relishing in what we have missed.
Each week there will be a YouTube music video you can watch as a devotion time to hear a reminder that God’s love is with us in times of contemplation. We are also offering this music playlist on Spotify as another tool for your worship experience this Lenten season. There is a song for each worship moment from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday. The songs are not for worship but for preparation work, thinking about making connections, about plumbing the depths of heart and soul, of the community of faith and the wider culture. However you use them, let music be a guide into worship this Lent.

there's a place for you on our
worship technology teams
Did you know that through the live streaming of our three worship services we reach approximately 200+ members and visitors each week? And those are just view numbers on YouTube and Facebook that don’t take into account how many people are watching together on the same device.
Our Worship Technology Ministry and streaming services provide a vital connection and extension of our on-campus worship. We need more volunteers at all three worship services to help keep this ministry going. If you have experience with camera or streaming operation, or are willing to learn how – both are EASY! Please contact either Johnathan Ancell, Director of Worship Technology, by e-mail at jancell@duluthumc.org, or David Daniel, Minister of Music & Worship Arts, by e-mail at ddaniel@duluthumc.org.
