Jane Stamets “Janie” Thornton of Duluth, Ga passed away at the age of 79, on August 3, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Duluth First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. C. Kay Fuino officiating. She is survived by her husband Ben Thornton of Duluth, son Brian Thornton (Michelle) of Hoschton, daughter-in-law Amber Thornton of Jefferson, grandchildren, Riley, Madelyn, Maddyx and Rylan Thornton and sister Ann Boucher. Jane is preceded in death by her parents Dr. George Marvin Stamets and Helen Gertrude Labauch and her son Shawn Thornton. Married in 1969, Jane worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines, a medical secretary for Dr. Gordon Northside OBGYN, and Mason Primary Care where she retired. She was a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending her time with her husband who she was married to for 53 years.
