Women’s Worship: A Midrash Experience
Sat, Mar 19th 10am - 12pm
Sanctuary, Gathering Room, Fellowship Hall
Duluth First United Methodist Church 3208 Duluth Hwy 120 Duluth, GA 30096

Please join us on Saturday, March 19th, for Women’s Worship: A Midrash Experience, an experience of hearing the stories of the scriptures elaborated by and for women. Enjoy time together to grow in your spirit and creativity as your self-esteem is lifted when hearing the stories of the Bible is a different context. In the days before Christ men and women separated for their times of worship. While this seems very patriarchal and chauvinistic, there may be some wonder and joy that can come from a time of worship that celebrates who we are as women with other women. On March 19th, from 10 a.m. to noon, we will gather for a time of worship and conversation with and for women. The service will include stories from the Old Testament written by Jewish women as “midrash”. Midrash is a form of interpreting the scriptures through stories, asking questions and living into the stories of Torah to answer contemporary questions. Our worship will include midrash written by women, wonderful interpretations based on the world of living as women while also asking questions. The day begins with a time of meeting and greeting in the Fellowship Hall, moving to the Sanctuary for worship with conversation, and concluding with more time to gather and have conversation. Online registration will allow us to plan for the day - go to the following link to register - https://www.shelbygiving.com/App/Form/e0c18d6e-1aa2-4004-bf1f-ce76ca43da70. Childcare will be available for children kindergarten and younger with pre-registration only (childcare requests must be submitted by March 12th). Children 1st grade and older are invited to join the worship service. Men are welcome and we have reserved the balcony for you to observe the service. The next planning meeting will be Tuesday, February 1st, at 4 p.m. in room F-147. For more information please contact Rev. Dr. C. Kay Fuino by e-mail at ckfuino@duluthumc.org or call 770-476-3776. We need musicians, singers, readers, ushers, advertising, registration and general program planning. I am thrilled to have the opportunity for Duluth First UMC to share this with our women and those in our community. Join us and bring your friends! Blessings for our worship! Rev. Dr. C. Kay Fuino
