Prayers and Squares Prayer Quilt Ministry Quilt Request Form

Prayers and Squares Prayer Quilt Ministry provides two opportunities, one of giving and one of receiving, prayer. Quilters meet the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Thursday of each month to prayerfully cut, sew, and tie quilts, made to comfort those with a severe medical illness. Prayer Quilts are displayed Sundays/Wednesdays for Christ followers to pray for the individual as demonstrated by knots tied on the Prayer Quilt ties.

A Prayer Quilt may be requested by/for an individual by clicking on Prayer Quilt Request Form.  In order to request a  prayer quilt, it  must be sponsored by a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church.

Order Flowers for Worship Services in the Sanctuary and Hinton Hall

Our Flower Guild creates beautiful flower arrangements for Sunday morning worship services in both the Sanctuary and Hinton Hall. Teams of talented, eager-to-serve Flower Guild members create these arrangements each week. Church members and friends are invited to purchase flowers in memory or in honor of a loved one, or to mark a special event, such as a birthday, anniversary, etc.

The cost is $100. Flower designations will be listed in the church bulletin for the Sanctuary services, and displayed on the screens for contemporary worship in Hinton Hall.

Click on Worship Services Flowers Order Form to download a copy of the order form.  Please place orders at least one week in advance. Your completed form and payment must be received in order to reserve a date.  For more information or to see if a specific date is available, please contact Tracy Brinker in the church office by e-mail at tbrinker@duluthumc.org or call 770-476-3776.

Stephen Minister Application Form

Do friends often come to you to share their feelings and confide in you? Are you an encourager with a tender heart for helping people who are hurting or struggling? If you answered yes, you may be a great candidate to serve as a Stephen Minister.

Duluth First UMC is looking for men and women Stephen Minister candidates with a desire to serve God by providing confidential one-to-one Christian care and support to those in our church and community who are going through difficult times.

The role of the Stephen Minister is to journey alongside their care receiver for as long as needed, providing support, encouragement and prayers for him or her every step of the way. Stephen Ministers are not problem solvers; they focus on providing care and look to God to provide the healing.

The training for Stephen Ministers is excellent (50 hrs) and equips Stephen Ministers to provide emotional and spiritual care for people in the midst of a crisis or struggling with life challenges. The training for new Stephen Ministers will begin in October. Applications can be found in the Atrium or can be downloaded by clicking on 2021 Stephen Minister Application.

Completed applications are to be submitted to Ann Fleming by Sunday, September 26, 2021. For more information about Stephen Ministry, please call Ann Fleming at 678-644-9108.

CD Recordings of Worship Services - Order Form

We are pleased to offer for sale CD recordings of the weekly scriptures and sermons for the traditional worship services. CD recordings are $5 each. Proceeds go towards the Homebound CD Ministry, which provides recordings of the scriptures and sermons to our church’s homebound members.

We cannot offer CD recordings or web broadcasts which include the music, as some of the hymns and many of the anthems are currently under copyright. Only by seeking separate permission for each song currently under copyright could we attempt to offer these musical recordings. And failure to comply with the copyright law could result in a fine of at least $250,000 per offense.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and thank you for understanding as we attempt to be good citizens and good stewards.
