Sunday School Classes for Adults

9:30 A.M. CLASSES

  • ABUNDANT LIFE CLASS meets online via Zoom each Sunday during the normal Sunday school hour (9:30 to 10:30 a.m.). We are a fun-loving group focused on the three pillars of prayer, Bible study, and Christian fellowship. Our goal is to help one another to better know Christ, through scripture study and open, loving discussion.  We follow a weekly lesson plan from ‘Standard Lesson Commentary”, the world’s best-selling Bible study guide, on an entertaining journey across the entire NIV Bible. Newcomers and visitors are always welcome! For additional information, please contact Jim Woods by e-mail at jim.p.woods@gmail.com or Rev. Beth Brown Shugart by e-mail at bshugart@duluthumc.org.
  • CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CLASS aspires to diversity of age, gender and ethnicity. The class is grounded in scripture and the Wesley tradition. We seek a deeper meaning for the Christian life in the modern world, as well as striving for a better understanding of scripture and tradition in the Methodist Church specifically and Christianity generally. We use Internet resources to access the best instructors and preachers in the world and there is usually intense class discussion of the topic in focus. We invite all seekers to join our quest for a deeper understanding and experience of God’s kingdom. The Christian Fellowship Class meets online. Please contact Rev. Beth Brown Shugart by e-mail at bshugart@duluthumc.org for more information.
  • CROSSROADS CLASS is a welcoming group, generally in their 20’s-40’s, mostly with younger children, but all are welcome. Our focus is growing in our faith, sharing time together as a family, and encouraging one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. We will be using various studies to broaden our understanding of the Bible and how it relates to our everyday life.  Great childcare and learning opportunities are available for kids throughout these times. Please come and join one of our classes as we start and exciting new chapter for this expanding class! The Crossroads Sunday School Class meets in room E-134, located behind the Sanctuary.
  • EXPLORERS' CLASS studies the Bible and discusses contemporary issues. The class participates in missions throughout the year. Great fellowship opportunities are available through quarterly socials. The Explorers Class meets in room F-148 on the first floor of the Sheldon Family Life Center.

Our classes utilize videos and texts of subject matter experts, independent reading, classroom presentations and, most importantly, classroom discussion.  The SALT class meets in rooms F-204/205, located on the 2nd floor of the Sheldon Family Life Center.
  • S.O.S. - SINGLE ON SUNDAYS CLASS is for those who are unmarried or married attending Sunday School without a spouse. • YOUNG ADULTS CLASS: The Young Adult Ministry is a group of young adults (18 - early 30’s) who are building lasting friendships and exploring what it means to follow Jesus. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we’d love to have you join us! We are striving to build community, draw closer to God, and develop in young adults the ability to connect with God throughout the week.
